Floor lamps are lamps that stand on the floor instead of needing a table to sit on. They are usually between 4 feet and 5 feet tall. Shades on a floor lamp are similar in size to those of table lamps. Measuring the shade of a floor lamp is a way to find a good replacement shade for that lamp, if needed.
Instructions
1. Remove the shade from the floor lamp. Measure the top of the lamp shade's diameter. Stretch the measuring tape straight across the top of the shade and write the measurement down.
2. Turn the lamp shade upside down and measure the bottom diameter of the shade. Measure the bottom straight across from one side to the other side. Write the measurement down.
3. Measure the slant of the floor lamp shade. Hold the measuring tape at the top of the shade and measure down the side of the shade to the bottom. Follow the slant of the shade for the proper measurement. Write the measurement down.
4. Measure the height of the shade. Hold the measuring tape at the top of the shade and pull it down to the bottom of the shade. Do not slant the measurement as this is only the height of the shade. Write the measurement down.
