You want to hang something up on a sheet rock ceiling by using ceiling hooks that screw into the ceiling, but you don't know exactly install ceiling hooks. While it isn't too difficult of a task to install ceiling hooks, you do have to make sure you install the right ones, the right way, so that you don't risk injuring yourself or someone else should the ceiling hook not hold and fall with whatever is hanging on it.
.
Instructions
1. Load the tool belt with all of the tools you'll need and the ceiling hook and accessories. Put on the tool belt.
2. Place the ladder underneath wherever you're going to install the ceiling hook. Climb the ladder and with a pencil mark the ceiling where you want to place the ceiling hook.
3. Measure in every direction away from the spot where you want to install the ceiling hook so as to make sure you have enough room or clearance around whatever is going to hang from the ceiling hook.
4. Hammer a nail into the ceiling, making a hole through the sheet rock. Pull the nail out, whether you nailed into a wood stud behind the sheet rock or just through sheet rock.
5. Use a cordless or electric drill with an average high-speed twist bit that's no larger in circumference than either the wood screw or the sheet rock screw that comes with the ceiling hook to make a hole in the nail hole.
6. Screw the sheet rock screw--which has threads on each end--into the ceiling hook. Screw the butterfly anchor onto the other end of the sheet rock screw, making sure you screw it so that the butterfly opens up and away from the ceiling hook on the other end of the screw.
7. Fold down the butterfly anchor toward the ceiling hook while pushing it through the sheet rock ceiling. Ream out the hole further, if it is too small and difficult to push through the butterfly anchor.
8. Screw the wood screw's blunted end into the ceiling hook. Screw the wood screw's pointed end into the wood stud in the ceiling.
