Decorate A Ceiling With Ivy

Ivy can give the ceiling a fresh, green effect.

When it comes to decorating a room, the ceiling is often the last area to consider, as most homeowners and decorators concern themselves heavily with the furniture of a room and the color of paint for the walls. However, decorating a ceiling can bring attention upwards, making the room seem bigger. Decorating with faux or fresh garlands of ivy is a surefire way to create a magical effect and give any room a strong sense of bringing the outdoors in.

Instructions

1. Measure the width of your ceiling and write it down. Purchase garlands that are around 50 percent longer than this width, because the garlands will need to hang downwards, creating graceful curves from the ceiling

2. Stand on a step stool and attach hooks along one wall, 1 inch from the ceiling. Space the hooks exactly 12 inches apart. Repeat this on the opposite wall. Use screw-in hooks or self-adhesive hooks.

3. Attach one end of each garland to a hook on the wall. Walk each garland over to the opposite wall and attach it to the corresponding hook. This will create a draping effect from the ceiling.
