When you design your living room using animal prints, you are right in step with a hot design trend. Wallpaper, murals, decorative pillows, painted furniture, seating and tables are all widely available in animal print designs.
Instructions
1. Decide on the color scheme for your living room. If you choose a darker palette with brown walls, choose lighter colored animal print accessories, tables and lamps in different types of animal print themes to create more balance.
2. Choose a particular animal print theme. For example, a North American animal print theme might consist of a photo mural of a pine forest on one wall, a rustic leather couch with deer print pillows to accessorize, and wall art with images of wild water fowl.
3. As an alternative to a North American animal print theme, you can cover one wall in a zebra print wallpaper, and accessorize with contrasting colored decorative pillows for a jungle or safari theme. Place two simple chairs in black upholstery against the wall, with a wooden table in between. Put pillows with images of brightly colored birds on each chair. Put two lamps with animal print shades on either side of the sofa, and throw a leopard print blanket onto the back of it.
4. Purchase a large tufted ottoman, and have it covered in a canvas animal print, such as giraffe, alligator, snake or tiger prints. Cover the tufting buttons in a contrasting fabric. Use it as a coffee table and store "National Geographic" magazines on the top.
5. Add extra animal print seating and storage. Purchase square stools with removable wooden lids. Upholster the lids yourself. Buy some foam rubber, and cover it in a peacock print (or another ) fabric. Use a staple gun to attach the foam and fabric to the lid.
6. Purchase heavier quality animal print fabric in lengths of 7 to 8 feet. Create long wall hangings with it by sewing a hem on each end. Insert wooden dowels and hang them together on a wall. You can also use them as a room divider by hanging them from the ceiling.
