Plug Your Ipod Shuffle Into Speakers

Although iPods are at the forefront of personal audio and entertainment, if you want to share the music in your iPod with others, you will have to look for a third-party solution. iPod shuffles do not have external speakers, so you will have to connect the iPod to external speakers. Fortunately, hooking up an iPod Shuffle to speakers is fairly simple.

Finding a Connector Cable

The most important component of the connection between your iPod Shuffle and your computer will be the connecting cable. All iPod shuffle models use a standard 3.5mm output jack, so a male to male audio cable will work perfectly. Though several different "grades" of cable are available, they all deliver the same quality sound, so don't be tempted to purchase "higher grade" cables, because they are unnecessary.

Suitable Speakers

The iPod shuffle will work with any auxiliary speakers that accept 3.5 inputs. This includes any size from small electronics speakers to large concert-quality speakers. However, the bigger the speaker, the louder the input needs to be, so if you are planning to really blast your iPod shuffle, you may need to enhance the audio with an audio editing tool before playing it back.

All-In-One Options

There are specially created iPod speakers that work with iPod shuffles, but if you decide to choose one of these options, be careful! There have been five different iterations of the Shuffle thus far, and each one has a different style of data jack. So if you do decide to purchase one of these, be sure to double check that it is compatible with your version of the iPod jack.
