Fix A Squeaky Bike

Knowing make basic bike repairs and perform routine maintenance will take care of those annoying squeaks and help your bike perform better. Often, you can fix a squeaky bike on your own. Make sure everything is secure and add lubricant to get rid of squeaking noises.


Instructions


1. Determine what part of your bike is squeaking. If you can't figure out the exact location, try honing in on a specific area that needs repair.


2. Check the nuts and bolts where you think your bike is squeaking. Make sure everything is snug and tight, then take the bike for a short ride to see if you've fixed the problem.


3. Look at the place where your handle bars connect to the body of your bike. Also check to see that the seat attaches securely. If either one is out of place, tighten it up.


4. Lubricate your chain and gears. You can use special lubricants or use WD-40 for this purpose.


5. Inspect your brakes. Replace the brake pads or adjust them if they're rubbing on the bike.

Perform basic maintenance on the entire bike any time you make bike repairs to help prevent accidents. Make sure the chain is in good condition and all nuts and bolts are tight. Check the tires and the brake pads for wear.
