Repair an Extensa Faucet
The Moen Extensa faucet comes with a pull-out handle or a regular spout head. If leaks occur, or you find the flow rate is slower than normal, there is a fast repair you can perform that will return the faucet to as-new condition. Repair the faucet by replacing the cartridge in the handle with a new one from an Extensa repair kit. It takes a half-hour to complete the repair, and you only need some basic plumbing knowledge to get your faucet working again.
Instructions
1. Shut off the water to the faucet by closing both valves on the water pipes underneath your sink.
2. Remove the plastic plug at the base of the faucet handle and take out the screw under it with an Allen wrench. Next, pull the handle off the fixture.
3. Remove the dome (the round cap on the faucet body) by turning left and pulling off the part. Grasp the dome with large pliers and turn if the part is stuck. Remove the spacer and unscrew the faucet's cartridge nut by loosening it with a pair of large pliers.
4. Take the cartridge out of the faucet and clean it with water, and then replace it. You can also replace the entire cartridge with a new one from the repair kit. If the cartridge is not in good condition and shows signs of damage, replace it.
5. Put the faucet back together by tightening the cartridge nut, replacing the spacer and dome, sliding the handle back on and tightening the handle screw. Replace the plug.
