Good Gift Ideas For Grandparents

Choose the perfect gift for your grandparent when you are celebrating a special occasion.

Choosing a gift for your grandparents can seem like a tough task. You might think that they already have everything, or you just simply might not know what they would like. But there are plenty of gifts that are perfect for grandparents, even those who are hard to shop for. Go for a practical gift that your grandparents can use in their everyday life. You could also choose a fun gift that goes along with a hobby.

Digital Photo Frame

Give your grandparent a digital photo frame. This is a perfect gift for a grandparent who has lots of grandkids. This way, she won't have to put lots of frames all over her tables so that she can show off pictures of the grandkids. Load pictures of all of her grandkids onto the digital photo frame and the photos will cycle through. You can help her change the photos seasonally. For example, put Christmas pictures in the frame during the holidays.

Season Pass

Choose this gift for an active grandparent who enjoys doing things with his grandchildren. Many establishments offer season passes or yearly passes, such as a children's museum, a zoo, a children's theater or a theme park. A grandparent could enjoy the season pass by taking his grandkids to do these fun activities on the weekends. Alternatively, choose a season pass that the grandparent could enjoy with his spouse or friends, such as a season pass to a sports team's games or an art museum.

Help

Many grandparents might not be able to get around as well as they used to. Because of that, they might need a little extra help around the house. So rather than purchasing a traditional gift, offer your services. Spend an afternoon at her house replacing light bulbs, doing yard work, cleaning her floors and helping out with other chores that she has trouble doing on her own. Not only will she appreciate your help, but she will enjoy spending time with you as well.

Throw Blanket

For a grandparent who gets cold easily, as do many senior citizens, choose a throw blanket. You could buy a simple blanket that matches the decor in his home. Alternatively, personalize the blanket. For example, you could have his name or initials embroidered on a corner of the blanket. Another idea is to have all of his grandchildren's names and birth dates embroidered onto the blanket.
