repair-an-eljer-shower-faucet

Eljer shower repair can be completed on your own.

Repairing a Eljer shower faucet is a DIY job, one that certainly doesn't need a plumber. Most likely the stem within the body of the faucet needs replacing. If you notice water leaking from behind the handle or irregular water temperature, then the stem is defective. Most local plumbing stores or hardware stores carry replacement stems for Eljer shower faucets.

Instructions

1. Turn off your house’s main water valve.

2. Unscrew the Allen nut on the bottom side of the Eljer shower handle. Once the screw is removed, the handle will come right off.

3. Use a pair of pliers to remove the retaining clip holding the stem in place, then remove the stem. If the stem doesn’t want to come out, try twisting it back and forth to loosen it.

4. Set your new replacement stem into the body of your Eljer shower valve.

5. Set the handle back onto the cartridge and tighten the Allen nut on the bottom of the handle, securing it in place.

6. Open the main water valve and check for any leaks.
