Ideas For Vessel Vanities

There are different ways to incorporate a classy vessel sink into your bathroom that will fit your personal home style.

Vessel vanities are bathroom vanities where the sink sits on top or is slightly recessed into the top of the vanity, rather than being entirely recessed into the vanity like a traditional bathroom sink. You can use a variety of different types of furniture under the vessel sink as the vanity to create different looks in your bathroom.

Pedestal Vessel

Pedestal sinks are a modern alternative to a cabinet bathroom sink. You can alter the design of a pedestal sink by making it a pedestal with a vessel. To do this, you will need to purchase a hollow pedestal or one that can be hollowed out so that the plumbing can be hidden under the sink and out of sight.

Furniture Vessel

To make your bathroom feel like part of the decor of your house, consider using a piece of furniture as the base for your vessel. You can use an antique cabinet or dresser, but remember that you will need to cut a hole in the top for the plumbing. You may want to use a new cabinet that is styled like an antique for a cozy look or a modern cabinet for an edgy style.

Open Shelving Vessel

The traditional vanity style is a cabinet with closed storage. You might want to change this up in your bathroom by using a side table or night stand with open shelves at the bottom. With this type of vessel sink and vanity, you retain the storage of a traditional vanity, but it allows you to display your extra towels and baskets filled with scented soaps.

Floating Platform Vessel

Furniture that looks like it's weightlessly floating in the air but affixed to the wall is a very modern style. You can create a vanity like this with a hollow box that is braced to the studs in the wall. Place your vessel sink on top of the floating box, and hide the plumbing inside it. For additional versatility you can attach hooks to the bottom of the box for hand towel storage.
