Anchor A Suspended Ceiling To Ceiling Hangers

You must secure a suspended ceiling to the original ceiling to ensure it stays up.

When installing a suspended ceiling, also known as a drop ceiling, you must first install the wall trim, cut and install the T-bracings that support the ceiling tiles then install the ceiling hangers, which are essentially eye-bolts screwed into the original ceiling. Once you have all of that installed, you can secure the T-bracings to the ceiling hangers to ensure the suspended ceiling never falls to the ground.

Instructions

1. Measure the distance between the ceiling hanger and the hole located in the T-bracing with a tape measure.

2. Cut a piece of suspended ceiling wire to a length approximately 20 inches longer than the distance measured in Step 1. Use a pair of wire cutters to cut the wire.

3. Slide 10 inches of the wire through the eye-bolt then bend the wire down in a U-shape to hold it in place.

4. Slide 10 inches of the wire through the hole in the T-bracing until the wire between the ceiling hanger and the T-bracing is taut but does not lift up the T-bracing.

5. Wrap the 10 inches of wire that extends from the T-bracing around the wire that runs between the ceiling hanger and the T-bracing.

6. Wrap the 10 inches of wire that extends from the ceiling hanger around the wire between the ceiling hanger and T-bracing.
