Tin snips can make tin ceiling tile installation easier.
A pressed tin tile ceiling can give your room an appearance straight from the Victorian era. Tin ceiling tiles come either as powder-coated for an enameled appearance or bare, which you can paint to accent your room decor. Hanging a tin tile ceiling can take up to several days, but you can do it yourself with the right tools and by taking periodic breaks to refresh your energy.
Instructions
1. Nail plywood sheets to the ceiling with a hammer to give you a solid base into which to nail the tin ceiling tiles.
2. Measure the ceiling for both width and length centerlines, using a tape measure. Mark these centerlines on the plywood base with a chalk line.
3. Nail the tin ceiling tiles to the plywood base, starting in the center of the ceiling and working your way out to the sides. Use the pliers to bend any tiles that need to curve and the tin snips to size the tin ceiling tiles around a light or fan fixture.
4. Nail up the cornice pieces when you have completed installing the tiles.
