Remove Oil Stains From Painted Ceilings

Oil stains can accumulate on painted ceilings.

Keeping painted ceilings sparkling clean can sometimes be a difficult task, especially in the kitchen. Oil stains can easily accumulate on kitchen ceilings by cooking greasy foods or accidentally opening a bottle wrong. These oil stains can be embarrassing when guests see them, as they can give the ceiling a dirty appearance. Oil stains can be awkward to remove if your ceiling is high or sloped. Fortunately, there are cleaning products available to remove these ugly oil stains from your ceiling, so painting over the stains is usually unnecessary.

Instructions

1. Wipe the stained area with a clean cloth to remove as much oil as possible from the ceiling. Mix equal parts of vinegar and hot water together in a bucket.

2. Dip a sponge in the vinegar and water solution, and gently scrub the area. Use a soft brush if the paint is textured to avoid damaging the surface.

3. Moisten a clean cloth with hot water and rinse the area after the stain is gone. Dry the area with a soft cloth and allow it to thoroughly air-dry.
