Decorating Ideas To Use Roosters Or Fruit For A Kitchen

Kitchens are the heart of the home.

The kitchen is often called the heart of the home. It is where families gather and create great food. For many people, a kitchen brings to mind thoughts of the countryside and home cooking. An abundance of orchard fruits in the decor is a natural extension of those thoughts. And what country kitchen decor would be complete without a rooster or two to awaken the senses?

Roosters Galore

Roosters come in many different styles

Chickens may be a mainstay of the farm. But their colorful and cocky male counterparts are king of the roost in country kitchen decor. Visit a home store, and you're likely to find an abundance of roosters in a variety of styles, from French Provencal to country chic. Narrowing down the ones you want to use might be your hardest decision. Once you have chosen the type of rooster you want in your kitchen, draw paint and fabric colors from its feathers. Options include burgundy, orange, yellow and deep green. Look at your rooster carefully, and you might even find an iridescent blue

Rooster Accessories

Roosters come in all shapes and sizes, from wrought iron weather vanes to kitchen towels. Choose a mixture of items that feature your rooster style. A country-style rooster vase could hold cooking utensils, or a Provencal-style rooster could decorate a series of canisters. Add a rooster to your shelves or countertop, or place one in the middle of your dinette. Include roosters in your table settings with salt and pepper shakers, decorative mugs or even dinnerware that features the bird.

Fruits of the Field

Fruit is a favorite element of kitchen decor. Choose one fruit as a theme, such as the apple or lemon, or use a variety of fruits in your decor. Draw your paint and fabric colors from what you've chosen. Lime green and other citrusy colors work well with lemons, for example, while muted earth shades work well with fruits such as apples and pears. Muted creams, yellows and golds also are options. If you have a Tuscan kitchen, consider gold for the walls. Have a feature wall with grapes and vines.

Pick a Peck

Once you've chosen the fruit you want to use in your decor, decide incorporate it in your decor. Your options range from decorative dishes to wallpaper borders. Remember that less is more. You want your kitchen to look tasteful rather than cute. Consider expanding on your theme. For example, vines and bottles of wine could become part of a grape theme. Apple or cherry pies could become part of an apple or cherry theme.
