Decorate A Purple Bathroom

Add purple art to accent your purple bathroom.

Purple is an expressive color that is soothing, romantic and regal. Whether you are looking for a few quick updates, a new project or an entire redesign, infusing purple accents into the bathroom can help you create a relaxing haven to enjoy after a long day.

Instructions

1. Decide on a theme. A bathroom with a theme will help you to narrow in on your style and accessory choices. Purple works well with many themes, including garden, Victorian, regal, romantic, nighttime scene and spa themes.

2. Paint the bathroom in a tone of purple. A soft, pastel purple works well for a garden or romantic theme. A deep purple will make the room feel upscale and luxurious. A dark purple works to define a small space. Pick accent colors that coordinate with your purple hue. Use a soft yellow or sage if your purple is pastel. Use black or white to contrast with a deep purple. Use a variety of purples for a monochromatic look.

3. Add trim to your purple bathroom. Add a decorative border or make a feature wall with wallpaper. Add tile to the wall to create a spa-like environment. Glass tiles can add a focal point around your shower. Add a matching valance or flowing drapes to frame a window. Make a tile backsplash behind your sink. Add stained glass to a window to create privacy but maintain an elegant look.

4. Update your fixtures. Replace your sink for a more contemporary vessel sink. Go the opposite direction and install a pedestal sink if you want an antique look. Swap your old faucet for a new design. Paint or wallpaper your claw-foot tub to add visual interest to it. Place a vanity in the bathroom with a wooden chair and a purple cushion. Alternatively, place an armchair by the vanity table. Coordinate your fabrics with the paint color. Instead of a vanity, look for an antique dresser. Replace your light fixture with a sparkling chandelier or add recessed lighting for a starry-night look.

5. Add large mirrors to give the illusion of space. Paint violets on the mirror to add more purple to the room. Purchase a shower curtain, toilet seat, rugs, towels and soap dish in the same pattern or a coordinating one. Add a purple painting that is a shade or two darker than the wall paint color. Finish the look with a fern or place flowers in a vase.
