Country Bathroom Colors

Learn which colors work well in country bathrooms.

Country decorating is unpretentious and relaxed. Not only does country-style decorating work well in the living room and main areas of your home, it creates a casual feel in the bathroom as well. A palette of soft shades with warm or cool undertones convert an ordinary bathroom into a country-style showplace.

Gray-Blue

Gray-blue is a soothing choice for a country bathroom.

Gray-blue shades provide a cool touch to a bathroom. Paint beaded board walls a soft shade of gray blue and coordinate with taupe bathroom fixtures. Paint trim a crisp, clean white for contrast. Use whitewashed accessories such as mirrors, framed small pictures, towel racks and medicine cabinets. Pewter toned or brushed nickel hardware works well with this color combination and acts as jewelry or trim for bathroom cupboards, sinks, tubs and showers.

Clay

The colors of clay provide a warm tone.

Paint walls a soft clay color for a warm ambiance. Earthy colors like clay work well with faux finish effects such as sponging or rag rolling on the walls. Combine clay with cool teal-toned accents such as towels, shower curtains and distressed cabinets. Pair clay walls with slate-blue tile flooring and blue slate in the bath and shower for a rustic country look. Use rustic black wrought iron for hardware on cabinets, as well as plumbing fixtures such as faucets and handles. Add black wrought iron light fixtures as well for visual contrast.

Pale Yellow

A pale yellow color has a relaxed effect in a country bath.

Paint walls a distressed pale yellow faux finish. Use a color wash effect for a soft, translucent look. Combine pale yellow with hues of lavender and pale green for a classic and soothing color combination. Paint a sideboard a seafoam green and add a freestanding claw-footed tub painted in the same color on the exterior. Add lavender accessories such as towels and curtains. White trims adds a country cottage look. Choose basic white plumbing fixtures and use shiny nickel or chrome hardware.

Barn Red

Use a distressed barn red in a country bath.

For a rustic country look, paint walls with a color wash of barn red. Distress the walls and remove some of the red paint with sand paper. Combine with crisp white trim and accessorize with wicker baskets and rattan shades. Add braided, colorful rugs to brick flooring. Keep plumbing fixtures basic white with hammered copper hardware. Simple white or black cabinets provide visual contrast.
