Diy Mini Chandelier Paper Shade

Use tissue paper to create a beautiful chandelier shade.

Whether you are a frugal designer lacking a budget for a crystal chandalier, a bride-to-be decorating a wedding reception venue, or a do-it-yourself enthusiast, a mini chandelier paper shade can add modern style to any room and can be accomplished in just a couple of hours. The project can use everything from scrap paper to tissue paper, and it doesn't break the bank. Use a white paper style of your choice for a clean look or, for a pop of color, choose a bright paper that complements the room you are decorating.

Instructions

1. Place tacky glue around the outer edge of a small embroidery hoop.

2. Tie a long piece of jute twine to the metal clasps on each end of the embroidery hoop. The twine will later be used to hang the chandelier.

3. Place one long edge of a sheet of tissue paper onto the glue so it wraps around the circumference of the hoop and hangs down to form a cylinder shade.

4. Take the rest of your tissue paper supply and cut 1 1/2 inches off a short end of the first piece of tissue paper. Cut each sheet 1 1/2 inches shorter than the last sheet, on the short end of each sheet.

5. Glue the longest piece of tissue paper onto the embroidery hoop exactly as you did in Step 2. Glue the next longest piece on in the same manner. Repeat the process from long to short, until you glue all tissue paper onto the circumference of the hoop, to form a layered shade.

6. Use scissors to fringe the bottom of each layer of tissue paper, to add decorative dimension.

7. Cut a piece of ribbon the size of the circumference of the embroidery hoop, and glue around the hoop to polish off the top of the mini chandelier paper shade. Tie the jute twine to a ceiling to hang the fixture.
