Different Color Choices For Bathroom Tiles To Be Painted

Dark neutral tiles like charcoal gray pair well with cream or off-white.

Bathroom tile adds texture to the space but can also serve the burst of color in the bathroom. The shades you choose for your bathroom tiles will depend on your decorative personality and the amount of tiles already present as well as the most prominent tones in the bathroom and the positioning of the tiles.

Warm Color Combinations

A mixture of warm colors like red and orange are ideal for painting bathroom tiles when brown or white is the main neutral color. For instance, a collection of peachy and coral oranges along with pomegranate or burgundy shades of red can serve as the bathroom's focal point if the tiles are arranged on the bottom half of the accent wall. Additional warm shades, like deep and pastel shades of yellow, can be added to the tile arrangement as well, such as along the sides of the vanity to add a pop of color to a neutral bathroom.

Cool Color Combinations

Colors in the cool family, like purple, green, and blue are attractive in a bathroom painted black or dark gray. It's best to add the tiles to the floor or wall, since painted tiles in high-moisture areas like the shower or close to the sink may not retain their painted color. Light blue or green floor tiles can make the bathroom seem a little larger and give a relaxing feel to the space. Accent wall tiles in shades of purple give the bathroom a regal touch; adding a towel rack with linens in a dark shade of purple is a sound decorative choice, such as aubergine towels against lavender tile.

Warm and Cool Mixtures

Paint the tiles in your bathroom a mixture of warm and cool hues to create a mosaic look in a bathroom that is all white or black. For instance, give your ivory bathroom a burst of color by painting the tiles on the accent wall light shades of red, along with demure variations of green and flecks of blue and orange. Red and green, as well as orange and blue, are directly opposed to each other on the color wheel, so they'll complement each other well even though one is warm and the other is cool. Or liven up a black bathroom by adorning the floor tiles in medium shades of purple, alternated with tiles painted dark yellow.

Black, White and Color

Combine black and white tiles with a bold color to add noticeable accents to the bathroom without having to repaint all the tiles. If the tiles on your small bathroom floor are black and white, paint a few of the squares Kelly green, and add a few more green accents like a shower curtain or soap dishes to further incorporate the new color scheme. Red is always an attractive choice for black and white bathrooms, so adding a few stripes of cherry red to the tiles on the accent wall will wake up the bathroom space without adding overwhelming amounts of color.
