Install Projectors

Super size your presentations with a projector.

Projectors are found in movie theaters, living rooms and conference rooms -- providing everything from cinematic entertainment to PowerPoint presentations. As with most electronic equipment, the key to getting the most functionality lies in proper setup and installation. Projectors require minimal setup, but each step is important. If you have a new projector, take the time to install it correctly to get the most vibrant and clear image possible.

Instructions

1. Choose a location to put your projector. The size of your image will depend on how far away your projector is from the screen. Your projector should be placed perpendicular to the screen. Placing your projector at an angle to the screen will result in a skewed image.

2. Mount your projector to its location. If you choose to simply place your projector on a table or shelf you do not need to mount it. If you want to mount your projector on the ceiling do so with a mounting bracket made for your specific projector model. You may have to mount the projector upside down to work with your bracket.

3. Connect your video components to your projector with your preferred or available cables. Most projectors accept a variety of signals. The most common signal is from a standard yellow RCA cable. More complex cables like HDMI and S-video provide better image quality, but may not work with your projector or video components.

4. Plug in your projector's power supply. Most projectors have a power cable that is very similar to that of a computer.

5. Set up your image size and focus with the zoom ring and focusing ring on the projector lens. If you mounted your projector upside down, access the settings menu and find the option to flip the image.
