Disable Lighting Effects

Lighting effects can go a long way towards making a video game look great. However, in order to render these lighting effects, a computer has to be especially powerful graphically. Most computers simply can't render modern lighting effects, and that leaves you in the position where you have to disable them for the game to be playable. While the menu names may be listed differently from game to game, the process of disabling them is almost universally the same.

Instructions

1. Click the "Settings" option in the game. Depending on the game, it may have a different name, but select the option that will take you to the game settings menu.

2. Find and select the "Video Options" or "Graphics Settings" option from the settings menu.

3. Find the settings pertaining to lighting effects, which will usually be labeled "Shadows," "Flares" and "Lighting." Disable them by moving the graphics slider to the left or unchecking the box.

4. Click "Apply Settings" to set the new graphical options.
