1. Experiment with color. Paint your bathroom in a color that reflects your personality or go for blues, greens or purples for a more peaceful feel. Choose bathroom accessories that complement your wall colors. Avoid using the same color throughout to keep your bathroom from looking too uniform.

2. Save space with extra storage to reduce clutter. Clutter can ruin the look of an apartment bathroom, so hide products and extra toilet paper rolls by increasing your storage space with over-the-toilet cabinetry. You can purchase over-the-toilet cabinetry at any home store and easily install it over the toilet tank.

3. Add plants to your bathroom. Plants can be placed on bathroom windowsills to bring a touch of life to your bathroom. Get plants with blooms that will complement the colors in your bathroom; but be sure to purchase plants that can handle the extra heat and humidity in a bathroom with a shower.

4. Decorate with candles to be lit while you bathe. Candles create a peaceful, comfortable atmosphere.

5. Display your lush towels by rolling them up and slipping them into a small basket to create a spa-like effect.
