Design A Room Online

Designing a room in your house or other dwelling can be done in a variety of different ways---including sketching on paper, using a software package on your computer, or by using a design program online like Better Homes & Garden's "Arrange-a-Room." You can use this Internet-based application to design just about any room you want. "Arrange-a-Room" is easy to use and it's free.

Instructions

1. Visit bhg.com/decorating/arrange-a-room/ to access the "Arrange-a-Room" application. Note: You will need Adobe Flash in order to use the online design program.

2. Click "New Room" to set the size of the room you are designing. Enter the width you want in feet and inches, along with the depth in feet and inches.

3. Click "Architecture" to add elements such as doors, phone/electrical, walls, and windows. The elements you select will then appear on the screen, and you can move them with your mouse. Click on the box by "Close" after placing specific elements in your room.

4. Click "Furniture" to add seating, tables, storage, kitchen and bathroom items, and other elements. Click on the box by "Close" after placing specific elements in your room. To delete a design element, click "Delete" at the bottom of the "Arrange-a-Room" design screen.

5. Click "Save" to save the current room design to the Better Home & Garden's user workspace. Click "Print" to print out your room design. To open a previous room design, click on "My Rooms" and select a previous room design you created and saved.
