Home Remedy to Make Eyelashes Grow
Our eyelashes go through constant cycles of loss and regrowth. But you may find that your eyelashes have got thinner and shorter over time. For many women, growing long, thick and beautiful eyelashes seems difficult to accomplish. There are many commercial products available in the market for eyelash growth. However, home remedies with simple ingredients may also help your eyelashes grow back thicker and longer.
Identification
Eyelashes grow from hair follicles, just like the hair on your head. Often, though, eyelashes are neglected and cared for only as a part of washing the face. Eyelashes may gradually fall off from the use of chemical-based mascara and eye makeup or remover. Eyelashes may also fall off from eye infections and medical conditions.
Eyelashes are also exposed to the same harsh environmental elements that cause damage to the skin. Pollutants may collect on the eyelids, which may halt the growth of eyelashes.
Effects
Home remedies may work by detoxifying the eyelash follicles, reversing the effects of harmful toxins. They may further unclog the hair follicles through daily cleansing and maintenance. These home remedies will also provide nourishment to rejuvenate the eyelash follicles.
Oils
The two main oils used for eyelash growth are castor oil and olive oil. Both have a pulling effect that traps and draws out impurities. The oils enter the eyelash follicles and work to stimulate its regrowth activities. Brush a small amount of olive oil or castor oil onto your eyelashes before you go to sleep. Wash it off in the morning. This treatment is mild enough to be used every night.
Lemon Peel
Adding lemon peel to the olive oil or castor oil may further enhance the oil's cleansing and stimulating properties. Using a sharp knife, cut a piece of the lemon peel and let some of its moisture dry out. Once it is ready, simply place it inside of the olive oil or castor oil, and allow the lemon peel's essence and nutrients to infuse the oil. This may take up to a week before you notice the lemon scent in the oil. The lemon-infused oil can then be applied, in the same manner, to the eyelids.
Trimming the Lashes
To further stimulate eyelash growth, consider trimming the very tips of the eyelashes. By trimming the lashes, their follicles will be stimulated to grow the lashes back. This is very much like pruning roses; when you prune the right way, more blossoms grow, sometimes two or three in place of the one that you cut off.
