Design A Football Helmet Decal

Football helmet decals have become increasingly sophisticated over the past several years. For many years, helmets were simply white with no markings or logos. Then came different colors for helmets, with some sporting players' numbers. As the game has progressed, so has the helmet decal. Today's football helmets feature school initials and mascots.

Instructions

1. Brainstorm the logo. Use a broad range of input for the thought process, including school or team colors, initials and mascots. Research the logo and colors. Consider current logos. Determine what is good or bad, and use this as a starting point. Use a pencil and paper to sketch out ideas.

2. Neatly draw the final version of the logo to scale. In other words, draw the logo as close to the actual size as possible. Use coloring true to the desired finished product. Cut out the logo and hold it to a helmet. Experiment with positioning, and observe size and colors. Make adjustments and continue to work with the logo until you're happy.

3. Use a graphics program, such as Corel or Adobe, to draw the logo on a computer. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions for more detailed information on using specific graphics programs.

4. Save the design in a graphics format that can be easily worked with by a logo manufacturer. Logos are printed on heavy plastics, typically in a computerized process. The process will most likely require the design to be in a format such as JPEG, GIF or TIF. Most graphics programs will allow designs to be saved in various formats. The design may also be converted to a usable format by the logo manufacturer.

5. Provide the company with the design in the appropriate graphics format. Request to see colors and samples before agreeing to a large order. If a sample is possible, request one.

Tips Warnings

Designing a logo often means a new beginning for a program. Whether the program is new or rebuilding, the logo can be a focal point for the future.

Make sure that the logo does not infringe on the existing logo of another team, school or organization. Professional, collegiate and even many high school teams will pursue legal action over brand infringement
