Replace The Fuel Filter On A Jeep Liberty

Replacing your vehicle's fuel filter regularly can be the key to not only engine's performance, but also fuel economy. The Jeep Liberty is no exception to this rule. Making sure to change the fuel filter every 60,000 miles will prevent contaminants from entering the engine and causing damage or possibly engine failure. Replacing your vehicle's engine can prove costly and time consuming. With this simple fuel filter replacement, you can save time and money.


Instructions


1. Raise the vehicle's hood and locate the fuse panel. Use the screwdriver to remove the plastic cover. Remove the fuse that controls the fuel pump.


2. Start the vehicle and allow the motor to idle. The Jeep will stall out after a few seconds. This clears the fuel line of excess fuel.


3. Locate the fuel filter panel located under the rear of the Jeep. It is located between the fuel tank and the rear driver's side tire.


4. Use the socket and wrench to remove the four bolts holding the panel in place. This will expose the fuel filter mount. Using the crescent wrench to remove the three fuel lines connected to the fuel filter.


5. Using your fingers to release the clamps holding the fuel filter in place and replace it with your new filter. Reconnect the clamp that secures the new filter. Reconnect the fuel lines and tighten using the crescent wrench.


6. Use the socket and wrench to reattach the fuel filter panel. Reinstall the fuse that controls the fuel pump and the plastic cover. Lower the vehicle's hood and start the engine.
