Clean a Vitapur Water Dispenser
A Vitapur Water Dispenser dispenses room temperature, cold and/or hot water depending on the model. Each Vitapur water dispenser features a water bottle, bottle support collar, water reservoir and main unit that includes the drip tray and grill and dispensing taps. Over time, the dispenser can accumulate mineral deposits (scale) that can affect your water's taste and the unit's ability to dispense water or run efficiently. The exterior of the unit can also become dirty or exposed to germs with handling. As a result, it is necessary to clean the unit thoroughly at least once every four months.
Instructions
1. Turn off and unplug your Vitapur Water Dispenser. Attach a brush or crevice tool to the hose on your vacuum and vacuum the condenser coils at the back of your water dispenser. If you can't dislodge all of the dirt or dust, brush the coils with a condenser coil brush and then vacuum.
2. Wipe the exterior of the dispenser and bottle with a warm, damp cloth and a small amount of water dispenser cleaner or mild detergent. Wipe the exterior of both again with a damp, water-only cloth to remove the cleaner or detergent residues. Wipe dry with another cloth.
3. Lift the water bottle from the dispenser and set it aside. If necessary, ask someone to help you remove the bottle. Lift the bottle support collar from the dispenser and set it aside.
4. Remove the grill from the drip tray. Lift the drip tray from the dispenser, dispose of any water in the tray and then wash both pieces with water dispenser cleaner or mild detergent and a damp cloth. Rinse thoroughly under running water and set the pieces aside to air dry.
5. Place a container under the dispensing taps and press the taps to drain the water from the reservoir into the container. When finished, dispose of the water and set the container aside.
6. Fill the reservoir with dispenser cleaner or a 2-liter solution made from equal parts of distilled white vinegar and hot water. If you're using a water dispenser cleaner, wait per the cleaner instructions. If you're using the vinegar and water solution, wait at least 20 minutes.
7. Position the container under the dispensing taps again. Drain the cleaner or vinegar and water solution from the reservoir through both taps into the container and dispose. Pour fresh water into the reservoir to rinse it out and then dispose of it again by draining out the taps into the container.
8. Insert the bottle support collar into the dispenser and then the bottle. Place the container under the taps and run four glasses of water from the bottle through each tap into the container. Dispose of the water.
9. Return the grill to the drip tray and return the assembled piece to the dispenser. Plug in and turn on your Vitapur Water Dispenser.
Tips Warnings
If the drip tray has scale in it, soak the tray in vinegar until the scale breaks up and then wash, rinse and dry the tray as you would normally.
Never use abrasive cleaning tools or harsh chemicals to clean your Vitapur Water Dispenser.
Not cleaning the dispenser at least every four months voids your Vitapur warranty.
